June-August, 2003

Hi! This is the month of June. Lots and lots of things happened in June, like we went on vacation to southern Indiana, I went to camp with my best friend, and I went to camp again with Mark and Nick. But first I am going to start out with vacation.

We got up at seven and were on the road by eight. We had started our vacation at a little train station and had decided to take a ride. We were in southern Indiana. the ride was two hours long. It was really neat. The driver took us through a tunnel, past a big hotel, past the first tomato juice factory, and past a lot of other things. It was really neat. That was the first time Nick, Mark, and I had ever road on a real train. They even allowed snacks on the train. It was a lot of fun. We found our selves a camp ground and camped there for the night. Monday morning we didn't pack up camp because we were going to stay there another night. Anyways we went to Squire Boons Caverns. We took a tour through a cave and they had a mini pioneer village we visited. It was neat. They told us about him and his life. It was pretty interesting. After that we went back to camp. Tuesday came and it was time to go to Holiday World. They had free soft drinks and free innertube usage to there their waterpark. They also had free sunblock stations. They have two wooden roller coasters. They are really fun. The water park was awesome. The had tons of waterslides. The had a wave machine. That was fun too. Holiday World was really fun!!!
We heard it was going to rain that night so we got a nice hotel with a swimming pool, Ping-Pong table, and arcade games. We stayed there for the night and in the morning we visited the pioneer village it had. It was pretty interesting. Then we left there and went to a town with la lot of shops to look around it. It was rainy a we didn't know what to do so we went home. On the way back we got pizza at Pizza Hut and went home. It was late. I just went to bed. I had a great vacation.

A week later I went to camp at Woodland Alters. It was fun. We cooked one meal a day on a camp fire. The rest we ate at the lodge. We stayed in hogans. I slept on a cot.
We went swimming two times a day. They had two diving boards. A medium and high. It was fun. We went hiking and had bible studies with different people each day. It took us three hours to get down there. It went quick because we had a TV. I had a great time though.

I got back that Saturday and had to leave again Sunday. We drove another three hours to get there. This time I went with Mark and Nick and most people I already knew. We went on hikes, we cooked three meals on the fire, we went swimming, we had bible studies, and we goofed and played. We stayed in tents and it rained one night and my stuff got a little wet but I had fun.

June was a great and fun month full of adventures!!!!

Jenny

Fireworks!   July came along and it was time for the festivities to begin.  First, on the 1st, was Jenny's birthday.   She enjoyed turning 12 this year.  Fireworks on the 4th fell apart, though.   It rained on all the nights they wanted to try to have it.  Nick and I ended up missing them, though; we had left for Boy Scout camp in Woodland Trails.  It was all right, but I think we'd have enjoyed if more if it hadn't rained EVERY day we were down there!  Oh, well, we still had fun, I think.  :)

The working man.  Or at least, that's what Dad calls me.   While I was at Scout camp, Mom got a phone call one morning from the local grocery store.  It was the owner, asking if I would like a job there.  I mean, it came out of the blue, like that.  I'm not sure why he called and asked me; it could have been cause I knew his wife from being in 4-H a few years, or cause my cousin worked there, I don't know.  But either way, I've been blessed to have this job come knocking at my door, so here I am now working.

August adventures.  It'd have been nice if we had some.  Well, I guess it wasn't all boring.  :)  Dad's been working hard on the store we're building.  It's going to be for Christmas tree sales, honey sales, and computer sales and service.  It's been coming along for quite some time.  It should be done by October.

Insurance is expensive.  I got my driver's license on the 21st, and since then, my money from the store is now official be sucked down the tubes by car insurance costs.  Sure, I knew it was expensive, but I didn't think it would be as bad as it is.  Oh, well, I think it's worth it.  Nick and I went for a cruise up to the Great Darke County Fair, which happens to be the largest county fair in the nation, which I think is pretty cool.  It's a neat place to be.   It was nice driving myself up and not having to worry about Mom and Dad, although I guess they have to worry about me now.  :)
