March, 2001

At the beginning of this month my dad and I went to Nebraska to pick up and bring home a 52 Chevy pickup so my dad could restore it. We borrowed a truck from a relative and rented a trailer to haul it back on. We left around 6:00 p.m. and drove till about 3 O'clock in the morning and stopped at a roadside rest and slept in the truck till sunrise. Once the sun came up we were on our way again. We stopped at a restaurant and ate a very big breakfast with pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash- browns. About noon we arrived at the place in Nebraska where the truck was. It took us three hours to get the truck on the trailer, strap it down, and load the original rims into the truck that was stuck in the ice. We paid the man and we left but one of the tires on the vehicle was getting low on air. We stopped at a service station and filled up the tires with air and we began to head home. That night we got a hotel on the other side of Des Moines. That morning we got up early and got on our way back home. We got home at about 4:00 p.m. And unloaded the truck. We just pushed the truck off of the trailer and let it roll till it stopped because it didn't have any brakes. We were glad to get it home.

We also went skiing at Mad River Mountain. Allen, Jennifer, Mark, and I went. When we got there we rented some skis and polls and started off going down the bunny hill. I was doing very well when I first started. Mark was still having a little trouble to begin with. We all got tired of going down the bunny hill so we went down one of the bigger hills. The fist time we went down the big hill I went down fast and did not wreck. Everyone else crashed while going down the hill. I waited about ten minutes before everyone else got down to the bottom of the hill. That hill started to  get to easy so My sister and I went down a bigger hill while my dad and my brother went down the easy hill. We skied till 4:00 p.m. when they closed down the slopes for the season.

My brother and I went on a campout at the Fishing Game Club for the boy scouts. We camped there for two nights. Our patrol came in second place in the fire building but did not get a place in first aid. We had a scavenger hunt to do. No one did find out what a dingle stick was nor a pine nail. But everyone had fun and so did I.
