July, 1999

Lots of things have happened this month! July 1st was my sister's (Jenny's) birthday. She is now 8 years old!

We also went to Mickey's Hometown Parade in Greenville the 10th. We left for the parade at 7:00 in the morning. The parade was to be at 10:00. The pre-parade was at 9:00. The reason we left so early was to get good seats. Now, the pre-parade was to last about an hour, which it did. It was pretty nice. Mickey's Hometown Parade only lasted a half-hour. It wasn't as good as we thought it would be.There wasn't to many people there. Probably only about 15,000 people. A lot more were expected. Personally, I liked the pre-parade done by Greenville better.

As you should know, I'm in Boy Scouts. The last week of July our troop went on a week-long trip to Cumberland Gap in Kentucky. I didn't go because I went to church camp in June. I had a choice, Church Camp or the week-long, and I picked Camp for two reasons. First of all, I have to pay 40% for all the field trips, camp outs, and Scout trips, and other expensive things, like my trumpet. The week-long cost $120, and Camp, $80. Second, On the week-long we'd be climbing a mountain, carrying 25 lbs. on our backs, and hiking a total of 32 miles. I don't have any of the equipment, and I didn't think I could hike that far.

My family and I did quite a few things this month, going to Scout meetings and church. Not to mention, our cat (Kitty) is missing. He's been gone for quite a while. We're all worried about Kitty. He is a good cat. If you have any info about Kitty, (you that live around Hollansburg and New Madison and are reading this should know) please e-mail us. Again, our e-mail address is howellru@bright.net

Sincerely,

Mark Howell
