July, 2000

On July 1st, Jenny had a birthday. She is now 9 years old. To bad she was not born on July 4th, or she would have had fireworks for her birthday. On the 4th, of course, we had fireworks. Before that, though, we watched the parade and then looked at the flea markets (there could not have been more than 20 shops, if that). Then we went boating out in Lake Saint Mary's. We stopped at a small island to swim for a while. Then we went tubing (we would have went water skiing, but we forgot the handle). Then we boated all of the way to Pizza Hut (they have a dock for boats). Then after we were in a while, Dad told me to go check on the boat (make sure it was still tied). At first, I thought he was kidding, because I could see the boat from the window. Then he said to go check, so I went. Of course, it was still there. I was suspicious, though. Why would he want me to go check when we could see it? I think it was to get me out so they could talk about me or something (birthday presents, maybe?). I may never know...

So then we ordered our pizza. We ate. We paid. We left. Then I got to drive for a while. When we got back to the dock we took the boat out of the water. Then we went home, ate, and got ready to go see fireworks. They were neat. I like the ones with the big booms.

Then (a short time later) Dad got a new (used, actually) car! It is a 1991 Honda Civic CRX. It is dark red, has a black interior, and in good condition. It has a manual transmission. It gets 45 MPG on stop and go roads, but it could get 50 MPG going on the hi-way. I like it. I may even get to buy it from Dad sometime (cool!). I wish I was allowed to drive. Mom has let me move the van in front of the barn to wash it or something, but I only get to move it about 20 feet.

The Hoggs (Dad's sister from Colorado) came to visit us. The whole bunch came: Sherry, Jeff, Jeremy, Kevin, Danny, Tami, Sarah, and Marcie Hummel. They came on the 24th. I enjoyed having them come. It was fun. We went boating, fishing, swimming, camping, and eating. It's to bad they have to leave. :(

I have caught the most fish in our pond. I have caught two channel catfish, two bluegill, and one large white amour (grass carp). The tadpoles mutated into toads so I caught a few. There al over the place.

We have had our paper route for a year, now. I enjoy the money, but not the work. It gets in the way of my Saturday. I also do not like the dogs in town. They all ignore Nick, but bark and go after me (weird). I have not broken any windows, but I have hit a few objects I probably should not have (I did not damage them, just hit them).

Your probably wondering why I jump from topic to topic. Dad said this newsletter had to be 500 words long from now on, so I am trying to fill this thing up. No, I'm not allowed to say, "I had a very, very, very, very, ect., ...fun summer" and stop the "verys" at 500 (bummer). Right now I have...594 words?! I guess I am done now. Bye!
